PGR Assistant State Captain Passes

All PGR,

It is with great sadness and regret that I pass along the following information from our State Captain, David David.

“At Noon today, Ed “Old Iron” Barrett passed away. All details are pending;

however there will be a Memorial Services in the DFW area.

Burial will be somewhere in Oklahoma. Dates and locations will follow.”

Ed was instrumental in the formation of the Patriot Guard Riders in Texas.

He was tireless in his support of our Warriors and their Families. I am proud to have ridden and worked with him……

…I shall miss him dearly.

WELCOME HOME

Ed “Oldiron” Barrett was a gentle man with a heart as big as his shadow in the late afternoon sun.

He was affectionately called “Uncle Ed” by those close to him.

Ed’s love of motorcycles goes back at least 50 years.

His wife and three daughters have many fond memories of their motorcycle adventures.

Like all of us that ride, most of those experiences were good, while others would have to be chalked up as learning experiences.

Although Ed was not a veteran, he was one damn proud American.

Ed’s involvement with the Patriot Guard Riders began the first week of January 2005

when he rode with three other members in freezing temperatures 350 miles from Dallas to Wheeler, TX for his first of many Missions.

Ed soon became a Ride Captain and organized some of the PGR’s most memorable Missions.

He later volunteered for the position of Assistant State Captain and also held collateral duties as a Forum Moderator.

I considered Ed to be my friend, mentor, confidant and most importantly, my brother. I will truly miss him.

Stand Tall & Silent,

David A David aka Double D
State Captain
