Christmas in July for the B & F -Co of the 1-8Th Cav 08 July 07 14:00-15:00

Christmas in July for the B & F -Co of the 1-8Th Cav 08 July 07  14:00-15:00
We have been talking with our contacts at Ft. Hood about doing a Christmas in July for the 1-8Th Cav in Iraq.

As you may call recall, last Christmas Ft. Hood asked if we could sponsor Christmas for F-Co of the 1/8Th Cav and we only had 3 days to do it.
The SE Texas & Austin PGR responded with 2800lbs in gifts that we got sent out in 3 days and they made it to Iraq for Christmas!!

We sent so much that not only did we cover F-Co but also some of the other companies in the 1-8Th received gifts from us.  All the items we sent them for Christmas are long gone.  The 1-8Th has been one of the hardest hit units in Iraq and has suffered many causalities.

Sgt Green, who we stood tall & silent for, was from the B-Co 1-8Th. We will send our gifts to F & B-Companies of the 1/8th.

Let’s show these companies in 1/8Th that we have not forgotten them!

Our shopping day will be this Sunday July the 8Th. It takes 10 to 14 days to get to Iraq and for this to be a Christmas in July. I know some of our members will be on vacations, if you can not make it to the designated shopping areas then please help us out with the shipping cost.

For Christmas it cost us $1500 to mail all the gifts to Iraq. We need contributions to cover the mailing cost just as much as we need the gifts. To make contributions to help cover the postage:

Make Checks out to:

Mario Bunster
SE Texas Treasurer
“1/8Th Postage” in the MEMO area.

Send Checks to:  (no cash)

By the time I left the 290 at Tidwell Wally World there was a long bed pick up load approaching FULL of shopping bags……….one PGR man & wife showed up and placed a check for $2 THOUSAND in the Ride Captains hand and said “If you don’t need that much for shipping just ‘put it to good use’…..” WOW!

That Mom was a member of ‘Military Moms’ who have so far shipped 60 TONS of goodies to Iraq……….PGR is working on only our 2nd ton……….we’ll have another shopping / shipping blitz at Christmas and I’ll report totals from this gather when I hear them…….THANKS one and ALL!
