Just an observation. I have not followed the LST blog too closely over the last few months, but it seems it is now “bigjolly’s” blog. I didn’t notice many of the old posters left. WTF?
This blog’s old Authors are not back either. Summer doldrums? Even Sarge has deserted us.
If we don’t get 20 or more comments a week, Open Comments is not worth it. You folks will make the call. I am willing to keep doing this for a couple more weeks, but if no-one comments, why bother. I just may put up a static page and let it stay untill Wino deletes it.
I need to get my Photo Blog going. And learn a whole lot more about photo editing with PaintShop X2.
Marc I can only theorize whatever snapshot in time you observed LST may have been a ‘Jolly heavy’ posting day - I still see posts originating from most all of the posters…
As always I post when I can……
I do know Sarge is in the middle of putting up and finishing out a new building at their place……
I still have FauxNews on my regular multi tab page of blogs and check in as often as I do LST and headshaker’s…..
I think mid summertime effects us all with so much going on…..
I also have always liked the FN concept and hope it stays around!
I know it seems like everyone is off doing their own thing IMO. I will try to spread the word to everyone to come visit FN and comment.
On another note,it really seems lonely sometimes now that the girls have moved out. It seems like a never ending battle to stay on top of the bills now that I am in the house alone.
Now I will get off my pity box and be thankful for my friends that I have online and in real life. Charlise and I had a slumber party and watched Spiderwick Chronicles the other night and had a blast making popcorn and seeing who was going to go to sleep first. That was my little game with her when ever she comes over to stay the night, the last person to fall asleep get to pick what they want for breakfast the next day. I am really enjoying my time with her now that she is getting big.
Don’t give up on open comments. We are creatures of habit, and away for a while, we have to again create the habit of checking here for news. This will take time as it is summer, more daylight, more outdoor work, more honeydo’s hehe.
Emme, how are you doing in the house alone? I know it’s tough trying to make ends meet.
Kiddo graduates university June 9 wheee
I’m so punked over the Ramos and Compean verdict, I’m still trying to sort things out.
Howdy all,
Sorry Wino and I haven’t been as active on the blog as we should be, but we are in the middle of some renovation as he and I have mentioned previously. If things only went the way you wanted, especially with the updates we would be done already. Well, Wino has left us for awhile to go work in Mexico. He will be offshore visiting a couple of rigs. Keep him in your prayers.
Marc, please do keep open comments up and running. I greatly appreciate all your time and effort.
Emme, I know you must be beside yourself without the girls. I think of you often. Give that mascot of ours a big hug for me. So, when is Jennifer and Pete getting married?
HOUSTON — There is real hope that what’s happening in a Houston lab might lead to a cure for HIV.
“We have found an innovative way to kill the virus by finding this small region of HIV that is unchangeable,” Dr. Sudhir Paul of the University of Texas Medical School at Houston said.
Dr. Paul and Dr. Miguel Escobar aren’t talking about just suppressing HIV – they’re talking about destroying it permanently by arming the immune system with a new weapon lab tests have shown to be effective.
Mornin all, another day that God has given to us.™
Things are good on my end, but I will admit that I have buried myself in work to fill the void time, with the girls not being here. My prayers are with Wino along with the others on my list. Marc, how is Stormy doing? Mrs Wino, no plans yet on Pete and Jennifer getting married, but my prayers continue for them. Just in case you haven’t seen the mascot on her 5th birthday on her big girl bike here it is………. http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n260/emmekelley/Charlise%205th%20birthday%202008/MVC-101S.jpg
Marc, indeed the HIV possible cure is awesome, and coming from H town…… a lot to be proud of. Wino is in Mexico? Yes prayers indeed. I wonder what tales he will bring back with him? After kiddo graduates Aug9, I’ll be able to do some things. Maybe we need a girls night out?
So, what part of Mexico did Don go to? I hope it is in-land. They have few problems in the boonies. I did an engineering job at a remote copper mine back in the ’70’s and had a blast. They used all local laborers for the project. I was pretty much adopted by those guys. Those are fond memories.
AW, That looks like the best strategy for AIDS yet. Now, if the FDA will get off of their fat arses and accelerate the approval process we may help a bunch of people here, and a few million overseas in places like the African continent where the disease is rampant. This belongs in our prayers.
Hmmmm, girls night out…can I come as a wolf in sheep’s clothing? Jes kidding.
Just a minute here. Neither I nor any of my immediate ancestors ever lifted a finger against a single American Indian or black American. I have no apologies to make to people I have not offended. If offenses were committed they weren’t my fault, or for that matter yours or that of any living Americans.
How dare these congressional demagogues associate us with alleged sins of the distant past committed by people who have long been gone from this world
My GG grandfather married an indian and was Irish English and French. I guess 1/4 of me is owed reparations!
I survived my garage sale. It was successful, and will help Grandma spoil the granddaughters next weekend at kiddo’s graduation. Today is housework and laundry.
Mornin all, another day that God has given to us.™
My yard thanks mother nature for the rain and now my dogs will probably enjoy this rain also. Everyone have a great day and be safe, roads are slick.
It’s a quarter till 10 and my Cypress weather update is…. birds are chirping. The sky is gray with occasional drizzle. The leaves are not moving. I am waiting for the whoosh.
Allow me to start today’s thread with a prayer that the Pena and Ertman families are finally more at peace.
At 9:57pm last evening the illegal alien ringleader and non-remorseful Jose Medellin assumed room temp.
The lead paragraph to the story from our own hometown newspaper states:
HUNTSVILLE — The state of Texas defied an international court tonight and executed Jose Medellin for raping and murdering two Houston teenage girls 15 years ago.
The bold in the blockquote is mine and is a dispicable statement by any news worthy organization. Their objective is to report NOT influence the news. The lawful courts in our nation ruled the International Court had NO authority to command the State of Texas to set aside the execution.
I am one proud resident of this state as we stood our ground. I’m much dismayed that the U.S. Supreme Court rejected a last minute appeal by a 5-4 decision.
If you don’t believe your vote counts in the upcoming Presidential election then remember this:
Within three hours of his arrest, Medellin admitted his role in the gruesome murders, appalling authorities with his boastful, callous description of the night’s events.
Ask yourself if you can be comfortable as the candidate you voted for selects replacements on the Supreme Court. They could very well turn this decision into a stay with the wrong selections being placed on the court.
Mr.Fish, you are so right. It was tense last night as the Supreme Court decided to vote once more. Thank goodness they did the right thing. There is one more thug waiting to meet his sentence, from this horrid crime. He is the gang leader. I am sure he is hoping the congress will push a bill through, recognizing the world court, and treaty as our law. We can only hope that doesn’t happen. Be vigilent.

As to LST, BJ is OK by me, and I miss AW and some others; however the moderators imperious perspective too much.
Have ya’ll heard about: the County Inspection Program
from the
trcc_state_tx_us/Inspectors/CountyInspections.asp
Who We Are
Mission Statement:
The mission of the Texas Residential Construction Commission is to promote quality construction for Texans by registering industry members and residential construction projects; providing information and educating homeowners and the residential construction industry; acting as a resource for complainants; and offering a neutral, technical review of alleged post-construction defects.
The Commission:
The Commission is comprised of nine members appointed by the Governor: four registered builders, three members of the general public, one engineer who practices in the area of residential construction and one either architect or inspector who practices in the area of residential construction. The Commission members serve six-year staggered terms.
Why worry about the national election, Governor D.H. Perry is hard at work protecting you from yourself, he’ll have you so busy while picking your pocket you will not have time to pay attention to anything else.
What the heck to we have elections for?
I did not see this on a ballot.
Why the hell did I move out to the county?
Nat, I’m flattered you miss me, but I’m right here. Nat, are they going to use this TRCC to implement fees? I don’t know much about this kind of stuff, but I believe the home builders in Texas are a huge lobby with deep pockets. Governor appointments. blah. The new governor, hopefully will disband them…… oh forget that idea. Big government never goes away. US Border Watch has started it’s own blog type of communication. I post immigration stuff there. It’s not a chatty open comments type of place. Just informative.

Most Texas counties, unlike Harris, Tarrant, or Dallas county, are mostly rural with some city or town; county government is more prominent.
Punching buttons on the radio I caught a portion of a PSA advisory, and it was painfully obvious that the regulators are going to take over the counties, whether you are building or remodeling or digging a post hole; permits, permits, permits, inspections, inspections, inspections, fees, fees, fees.
After the rural counties got together and defeated the TTC it seemed Texas was on the road to sanity, ha!
All Texas governments have become addicts and they need some tough love.
just start with www and it will take you there and you can quickly download the documents.

Good Morning! Tomorrow I head to Denton for the graduation event! I’m so excited to see my little granddaughters.
Marc, one of my carpet store owners has wood working as his hobby. I was telling him of my wish for a feeding station made of wood, free standing to put in my yard. He took my idea, and has made me one. It’s WONDERFUL. I’ll take a pic next week. It’s about 4′ wide by 6′tall and consists of a rectangular box, with wire botton attached to four legs. It has an overhang cedar roof. The box is about 40 inches off the ground. I think my birdies will love it.
