Cold Blooded Killers

Sly congressmen posture to charm the most cameras,
Jousting and jockeying for electoral advantage.
Antiseptic tank thinkers who prattle on C-SPAN,
Play up to the crowds of American Grandstand.snipThe critics, the cynics, the skeptics, dyspeptics,
So quick to condemn us as all misanthropic.
How doth they judge fighters when few have they met?
Longing for new My Lai’s,
Thirsting for new Tet’s.
See that young man? Jack Murtha says he’s a “cold blooded killer.” This week, after a two year investigation, the United States Marine Corps will say he’s not.
But this post is not about Lance Corporal Stephen B. Tatum’s exoneration in the incident at Haditha in November 2005. This is not about Lance Corporal Justin Sharrat, who has also been exonerated. It’s not about Captain Randy Stone, who has likewisee been exonerated by the investigation. It’s not about Sergeant Sanick Dela Cruz, also accused by Congressman Murtha of being a “cold bloooded killer” and also exonerated by the investigation.
This is about Jack Murtha, who accused them of being “cold blooded killers” without waiting for the investigation that has cleared these brave men to even begin.
As I found out when I decided the best way to find that poem by Buck Sargent I quote above was to quote myself in a google search to find the Open comments Post at Lone Star Times where I had linked to it

OK, now I am really confused. You have this new post up and I clink on the link (Pat Dollard) and it sends me to his web site but tells me that the page is gone (error 404). Now when I am in the comment part of the post, archives, categories and all the other stuff is on my left side of the page, while I am typing my comment. Am I hallucinating or is someone playing with the page?

it took a good deal of time for the wheels of justice to turn for LCpl Sharrat, but turn they did. He’s been completely and offcially exonerated.
The rest of it was to be on Murtha’s porkiness, his associatioons with some high doallar lobbyists, and his failure to apologize for his “cold bloodeed killers” remark of a couple of years ago.
Another Lie of the Left regarding this war.
There remains only on Marine actually ionvolved in the combat in Haditah (yes—it was combat, not murder) that day, and on much reduced charges. It’s likley that even if he is convicted of anythying, it will be along the lines of derelection of duty and not much else.
There are two (or maybe one by now) Officers still charged, but these related to event regarding reporting procedures AFTER the combat event. There likely won’t be much happening there either.
I had intended on finishing this, but as thje main thrust of the post has been OBE, you can delete it if you wish.
I’ve just not had the time to devote to more prosaic posts, as you might have been able to discern, than I have had to make random comments on LST.

Someone explain to me what happened to Murtha. Wasn’t he a well respected military officer about 20 years ago? He is a clown today.

Sarge,
I didn’t know if this was a work in progress, or something that got nuked with the rest of the site, so I put it up when I was fixing the blog. I can “unpublish” it, or you can edit it as it sits. Just let me know.
