We Distort, Then Deride
Kent,
My brother has your resume. He knows some folks in the Dallas area and will see what he can do there first.
Marc
I was sure it would pour rain today, but only wind, although it’s still threatening. My hummingbird feeder is half empty, but I think it’s only the house finches……. haven’t seen a tiny visitor yet.
Marc, I would read your post, but just know it would infuriate me……. and will take your word for it…….. I have no clue how to solve their problems. Doesn’t Mohammed talk about honor, character and no stealing?
On another note, Stormy got laid off today. She wasn’t surprised really, since she had run ins with her bosses boss over the last couple years.
Her report to and her boss are overseas, so it is hard to fight for yourself here.
We are in good shape financially for the present, so we will be having a break from the frantic life for once.
Whoa, Marc, tell Stormy sorry about the layoff. I went through that about a 1 1/2 years ago, got a better job now, just hope the market stays afloat. Have a fun break.
Stormy, extra hugs….. I’ve experienced it too. Keep busy around the house with nature…… that’s what I did. Enjoy the birds. Relax. Something will come along that’s better. When one door closes, another opens.
Hi everyone — thanks for all the kind words. As Marc said — I’m not too concerned. I’m going to take a week or so to rest and relax, then I think I want to do a bit of work around the house (things I haven’t had time or energy (mostly energy) to do with work and the commute. I’ve been laid off 3 times before (back in the 80’s), so “been there, done that.”
I’ll keep my spiritual ears open to see what God wants me to do next — yes, I firmly believe he has a plan. After our vacation, I’ll start working on something else.
Hey stormy, enjoy your time off and rejuvenate your spirit and your body, so you can hear God’s word and plan for you. As I tell my children, trust your first instinct and for me that is usually the Holy Spirit talking to me.
God Bless all of you.
We are glad to count you among our few friends.
This time around we are prepared.
When I got laid off, it was a shock, because My work was going well. All of the folks tagged were close to 50 and were either close to being eligible for early retirement, or past that point.
At least Stormy had a feeling that this was coming.
I had a good review, which was downgraded by upper management, just before the infamous day, to let them cut salary expenses by hiring cheap new Grads. Pretty sorry. I don’t buy CONOCO gas unless it is an emergency.
My bd was the 15th (64). I am going to start collecting SS for however long it lasts. Insurance is going to be a problem, but not that big. They canceled her ins. effective today. I can probably get her on mine until next year, we will see.
We will see how this plays out.
Marc perhaps I’m ‘behind the times’ insurance-wise………….but don’t yall have some ‘Cobra’ option(s)??
Cobra is a joke. It is very expensive. Of course we will look into it when we get more info, but I think it will be cheaper to add her to mine until I turn 65.
Katfish - I’ll have Cobra. I used it the last time I was laid off. It’s a lot cheaper than buying insurance on your own. But it also only lasts for a limited period of time (18 months, I think). We’ll have to see what the comparison will be with that and his insurance. Both cost and duration…
Marc and stormy I was laid off from my job where I had insurance back in May of 06′ and haven’t had insurance since that point. I definitely understand where you are as far as insurance. Between the Temp jobs and this new one I have right now I have been without insurance.
Unfortunately, I have two doctors and a dentist to feed. Insurance is really useful!
Fortunately, I AM in pretty good health (lots of preventative maintenance, and I plan to do more now!). I think we’ll be able to work things out.
WhiskerFish,
COBRA stands for:
Costs Outrageously, But Rarely Adequate
Wino
That is so true about COBRA. Must be why I didn’t sign up for it when I got laid off.
for all of you who have gotten one form of the nigerian e-mail scam
Wind and rain……. a little rain, strong wind. I’ve been leaving my storm door wide open to the back yard, but now wonder if a bird will fly in. That would bring total chaos indoors. Max, Sophie and Eddie, not to mention Buddy the cat………I think I better error on the safe side and go close that door.
BW - I just read that one - TFF!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well by now Oldest daughter is on her way back to her Grandma’s house for here first extended stay away from home without mom & dad. Grandma is going to teach her how to sew and they are going to spend the next 4 days making a quilt. Now I am both excited and nervous but knowing my daughter she is going to work real hard and have a fantastic quilt when it is all done. I’ll try to get a picture of the quilt up when she gets home.
One note on Grandma and her quilt making skills, she has won multiple awards both locally and state wide and has had a couple of quilts displayed at the annual quilt festival and the rodeo over the past few years. So this should be a fine piece of work.
I have had two new birds today, I love spring. A Louisiana water thrush and a prairie warbler. The Water thrush comes every year, but the prairie warbler is brand new.
Bweldon, when I was 19 and newly married, I went to my ex’s grandmothers quilting bee. The ladies had the old fashioned quilting frame… it took up half of the living room, and took such great pride in their exact, tiny stitches. Quilting is artistry. I am so glad she gets to spend this wonderful time with her gram, and learn to quilt. I hope gram spends time telling her tales about when she was a little girl. I was fascinated by my gram’s stories.
Well, today was bail out day for our gold investment. Gold appeared to be selling off a bit.
My problem earlier was never about getting in at the right price, it was getting out while I was ahead. This time I paid close attention to my charts, and sold when it was time to.
Bweldon, Clark was one of my favorite Authors. It is a shame such a smart man could not accept God as his creator.
Izaak Asimov was another. He was an avowed Atheist. After he went very public about that, I never bought another of his books.
I was wondering about this: Why Was It Raining Mud? This morning I went out to make the mail run into Brookshire, and I had to clean the windshield before I could even leave here. The guys at the lube shop here cleaned all of my windows and said everyone was covered with dirt that came in today.
See the last paragraph. Looks like the winds picked the dirt up and mixed it with the cold rain last night.
It’s because of GLOBAL WARMING , don’cha know.
I wanted to make sure everyone got the new version of the horoscope going around, I thought it was funny reading some of them and thinking to myself who fits what sign…………Wino, ARMADILLO reminded me of you ;). I am CRAWFISH.
Some Southerners are pretty skeptical of horoscopes and the people that read them. If we are to ever fully understand all the star signs and the people they represent, we need symbols that all true Southerners understand:
OKRA (Dec 22 - Jan 20): Are tough on the outside but tender on the inside. Okras have tremendous
influence. An older Okra can look back over his life and see the seeds of his influence
everywhere. You can do something good each day if you try.
CHITLIN (Jan 21 - Feb 19): Chitlins come from humble backgrounds. A Chitlin, however, will make
something of himself if he is motivated and has lots of seasoning. In dealing with Chitlins, be careful - they may surprise you. They can erupt like Vesuvius. Chitlins are best with Catfish and Okra.
BOLL WEEVIL (Feb 20 - March 20): You have an overwhelming curiosity. You’re unsatisfied with the
surface of things, and you feel the need to bore deep into the interior of everything. Needless to
say, you are very intense and driven as if you had some inner hunger. You love to stay busy and tend
to work too much. Nobody in their right mind is going to marry you, so don’t worry about it.
MOON PIE (March 21 - April 20): You’re the type that spends a lot of time on the front porch. A
cinch to recognize the physical appearance of Moon Pies. Big and round are the key words here. You
should marry anybody who you can get remotely interested in the idea. It’s not going to be easy.
You always have a big smile and are happy. This might be the year to think about aerobics. Maybe
not.
POSSUM (April 21 - May 21): When confronted with life’s difficulties, possums have a marked tendency
to withdraw and develop a don’t-bother-me-about-it attitude. Sometimes you become so withdrawn, people
actually think you’re dead. This strategy is probably not psychologically healthy but seems to
work for you. You are a rare breed. Most folks love to watch you work and play. You are a night person and mind your own business.
CRAWFISH (May 22 - June 21): Crawfish is a water sign. If you work in an office, you’re hanging
around the water cooler. Crawfish prefer the beach to the mountains, the pool to the golf course, and
the bathtub to the living room. You tend not to be particularly attractive physically, but you have
very, very good heads.
COLLARDS (June 22 - July 23): Collards have a genius for communication. They love to get in the melting pot of life and share their essence with the essence of those around them. Collards make good social workers, psychologists, and baseball managers. As far as your personal life goes, if you
are Collards, stay away from Crawfish. It just won’t work. Save yourself a lot of heartache.
CATFISH (July 24 - Aug 23): Catfish are traditionalists in matters of the heart, although
one’s whiskers may cause problems for loved ones. You Catfish are never easy people to understand.
You run fast. You work and play hard. Even though you prefer the muddy bottoms to the clear surface
of life, you are liked by most. Above all else, Catfish should stay away from Moon Pies.
GRITS (Aug 24 - Sept 23): Your highest aim is to be with others like yourself. You like to huddle
together with a big crowd of other Grits. You love to travel though, so maybe you should think about
joining a club. Where do you like to go? Anywhere they have cheese, gravy, bacon, butter, or eggs and
a good time. If you can go somewhere where they have all these things; that serves you well. You
are pure in heart.
BOILED PEANUTS (Sept 24 - Oct 23): You have a passionate desire to help your fellow man.
Unfortunately, those who know you best, your friends and loved ones, may find that your
personality is much too salty, and their criticism will affect you deeply because you are really much softer than you appear. You should go right ahead and marry anybody you want to because in a certain way, yours is a charmed life. On the road of life, you can be sure that people will always pull over and stop for you.
BUTTER BEAN (Oct 24 - Nov 22): Always invite a Butter Bean to a party because Butter Beans get
along well with everybody. You, as a Butter Bean, should be proud. You’ve grown on the vine of life,
and you feel at home no matter what the setting. You can sit next to anybody. However, you, too,
shouldn’t have anything to do with Moon Pies.
ARMADILLO (Nov 23 - Dec 21): You have a tendency to develop a tough exterior, but you are actually quite gentle and kind inside. A good evening for you–old friends, a fire, some roots, fruit, worms, and insects. You are a throwback. You’re not concerned with today’s fashions and trends. You’re not concerned with anything about today. You’re almost prehistoric in your interests and behavior patterns. You probably want to marry another Armadillo, but a Possum is another somewhat kinky mating possibility.
I have a bird sighting correction. The water thrush is a Smith’s longspur…. I finally went to the internet to get a better pic and found one that looks exactly like it. wheeee.
Emme I was born yankee, but kiddo is okra hehe
I proTEST!
Why I gotta be a dang Boll Weevil?
Can’t they READ the name?
Katfish, for a meager sum, I will sell you my catfish, altho it is yankee! hehe.
Kiddo is back on Texas soil. I thought she was coming home tomorrow, but she said no, she’s coming home, home tomorrow. Why I didn’t ask her the dates, instead of just asking when she is coming home, I don’t know. hehe
I’m a butter bean — I go good with corn bread, but my boll weevil used the cast iron skillet for some project… ![]()
I’m with ya Stormy, I’m a Butter Bean too. My Boll Weevil burns things in the skillet.
Hee Hee.
Remember Evel Knievel? Here is a good read. I always thought he was nuts, even more so after parachute training. Click here for the story
When I was a kid, I was averse to bike crashes.
Mornin all, another day that God has given to us.™
marc I wasn’t averse to bike crashes when I was young I was riding my bike down the street in the neighborhood and crashes into the back of a pickup truck which I was talking to my friend and not paying attention. That was my wake up call about crashes. ![]()
I always was fascinated by Evel Knievel. It takes some kind of weirdness to risk one’s life for entertainment.
Good Morning. It’s Good Friday. The holy weekend begins.
The angel came to the myrrh-bearing women at the tomb and said:
Myrrh is fitting for the dead, but Christ has shown Himself a stranger to corruption.
Here’s hoping EVERYONE has a blessed weekend!
Hoppy Easter to all you blogsters here on the Faux. Have a fun and enjoyable weekend.

This is their latest design: Big Dog
Absolutely amazing. The hardware is impressive; the software needed blows my mind!
They need to come up with a power source that is a bit quieter next.
Eveinin’ FNers==anybody around?
Kent,
Back from dinner.
How is the search going?
Wino,
Need to set the clock up an hour. It didn’t update automatically.
Marc
Marc, Send you an EM tamale’.
nitey-nite™ all
I think the clock is right, now.
Lets see if the clock is right. ![]()
Yep it is correct. When is the Faux-Deaux-Deaux™ guys? Marc, Stormy, AW, get after the Winos to post the details on the gathering. The 29th is GOOD for me. ![]()
Kent,
Have not received it.
Emmie,
The get together is on. We expect to see our mascot cutie, if she wants to come. See Wino’s post today. We got together with them today for talks and drinks at Flying J’s here (No wine tho) and sorta convinced them to do this at their place. Smokers outside. Our survival time at Coaches is about 30 minutes.
My child is home, so excited about her trip to the Czech Republic, London, and Vienna. She has about 500 pictures and a few post cards. The prizes she brought home to mama are wonderful. Brno is breathtaking, and I want to go! The most touching thing for she and I are the Plague statues erected in every town. Some are bigger than others, but all are to God to say ” please, no more plague”. They are tall, and have different sculptures on them, but most have children. The architecture and sculpture is amazing. The buildings are so ornate. The people are welcoming, and speak 4 languages. Prague was beautiful, but she liked it least because it is to touristy, and everyone speaks English. All streets are cobblestone, and her 23 year old feet killed her at the end of each day. They walked, and walked, and walked. Beer is the drink there. All day, beer. The oldest brewery from the 1400’s is still in business. One has to pay to use a restroom, usually around 25cents, and to wash one’s hands is another nickel or dime. There were but one or two restaurants that didn’t require one pay. Food was mostly goulash, pizza and a mc donald’s in London. The burger meal was $8.00 and the beef was awful. Most of the deserts in the Czech republic were pancake type deserts with fruit. Icecream is a daily food ( see I would love it there) and vendors are everywhere…… even in winter. She gave a talk at a school, and the 14 year olds were a hoot. The boys masterminded the students divide into two groups, and fixed it so she had all boys. They are outspoken, not like here! All wanted to be penpals, and have her email address. All the kids speak politics. They are concerned about the presidential race, as anything that happens in America, affects the world. I am so grateful she could make this trip. A trip of a lifetime.
When I went home in September, I drank coffee in the morning at the Moonshine store about 4 miles south of the farm. We talked politics and crops. Every day I could, I had a moonburger for lunch. This is a great video of Moonshine. On weekends the Amish ladies set out home made goodies on one of the picnic tables under the trees. When it’s someones birthday on a coffee morning, that person brings his own cake and shares. It’s not uncommon for homemade banana bread, or a pie to show up for coffee time. Always home made, by one of the farmers wives.
Happy Easter wekend to all at FauxNews–He is Risen!
He is risen indeed. A blessed easter week to all of you.
Kent, hope your DE job comes through.
My bro is pretty well connected in HR. I think Stormy will have a couple inquires next week. She really needs some stand down time, so we are still planning to do the train trip in the Canadian Rockies next month(we already paid for it). Things are getting interesting.
I am just enjoying having her around, and not worrying about her being
5,000 miles away.

Here is another interesting Iraq article. Read all three pages, if you have time. There is so much corruption and thievery that they will take a long time to get into our century. Remember Ali Babba and the thousand thieves?
