Free Tickets Giveaway

(Bumped to the top)

Continental Airlines Jet

Repeating The Generous Free Offer, Again

FauxNEWS is now officially announcing some new rules for its next giveaway. The prize? Two round trip tickets between any two cities that Continental Airlines flies. Both cities must be within the Continental United States (no Alaska or Hawaii). The two can be combined into a single international ticket, assuming Continental Airlines flies to the cities in question. All modifications are at the discretion of the FauxNEWS staff. You’ll have to eventually give me the official names, and possibly other identifying information, of the winners. Tickets will be issued in those names, and are good for one year. The date of travel must be scheduled at least 2 weeks after I am notified of the origin, destination, and travelers’ names. Both tickets must be for the same flight, same day, and the same origin and destination, with two different flyers.

However, for most folks, I don’t think this is a problem.

Here are the rules:

1. This is a “points-based” system. You receive points for different things. After the contest ends, I’ll total the points, and randomly select the winner. There is no way to “buy” points, and there is no way to get money to FauxNEWS. This is done to increase readership, not make money. The purpose of this giveaway is to get more readers and commenters to FauxNEWS. Authors are eligible, however, The Dude and I are not.

2. Anyone who is registered as of TODAY (still 18 hours left, at this writing), will get 10 points. Too late for this one, Wino.

3. Getting someone new to sign up before August 1, 2007 (midnight 0h-one, August 1, 2007), will get you 2 points, and will get them 4 points.

4. After August 1, 2007 (midnight 0h-two), you will get 1 point, and they will get 2 points for the sign up. The person must post your name or blog name in their profile “about me” comment section within 24 hours of signing up, and an email must be sent to wine_drinker(at)hotmail.com with this information within 48 hours of the person signing up, to get credit. I’ll answer the email with an acknowledgement that the points have been credited.

5. Posting a comment to an article can get you one point per day. That’s NOT one point per article per day. ONE POINT PER DAY, maximum, for comments. A day starts at midnight and ends at midnight, Central time.

6. Pimping this blog elsewhere, in accordance with the the other site’s rules, can get you up to ONE POINT PER WEEK. If this rule is abused, I’ll delete it, and no points will be awarded for this method. The link to the pimping must be sent to “wine_drinker(at)hotmail.com” and must be viewable when I get around to looking for it. I’m kind of wary about this method for points, so don’t count on it remaining until the end of the contest. As of this writing, I plan to keep this rule, unless we become a burden on others. If FauxNEWS has already been pimped on the other blog, then no points are available… so if you’re thinking “LST” or similar, forget it… I’ve already pimped there, and plan to submit an ad after I write it.

7. The people who are signed up must be real people, and capable of signing up themselves. If I find a bunch of fraud or other abuse, I’ll take appropriate action., up to and including cancelling the contest altogether. No 14 month-old grand-daughters or similar will be tolerated. Play nice, and don’t try to get around these rules… It’s a FREE giveaway. Just play it according to an unwritten honor code, and someone will walk away with what I consider to be a nice prize.

All rules are subject to change, at my sole discretion.

Occasionally, I’ll bring this article to the top. As of this writing, it is about 6:50 am, 24 July, 2007, but the timestamp may change as I bump it to the top.

    Well,
I guess I should get my two cents worth in here to get a few more points.

    Katfish,
A new grand baby, how awesome. My daughter is going off to college next month and I told her she had to finish college before she thought about any of that stuff, but can’t wait until I have grand babies. Congrats!!!!

I wanted to use the tickets to fly from Intercontinental (Bush) to Hobby at rush hour.
Talk about getting over on all those poor commuters.

But then I remembered that I would have to drive back to get my car.

Flying to St. Louis instead of driving there in Sept. to celebrate w/ kiddo his last days in the USAF sure would be cool. (Was the hint subtle ’nuff?)

    american woman:

IF I were to win, I would fly to Steamboat Springs and see my two blond-haired , blue-eyed grandaughters age 3, and 4.

Is this gonna be a random drawing thing or the one w/ the most posts wins? I realize w/ a random drawing the more one posts the better their chances… just curious.

Also if it’s the one w/ the most posts wins - I’m gonna have Sarge break his normally long posts down onto two sentence segments… ;)

  17. 17
    Wino:

Random drawing, Elizabeth. Everyone who is registered gets a chance. We’re now out of “bonus time,” so everyone will get single points from here on out, except for the two points for signing up.

    american woman:
